Detsky Mir Charity Foundation opens 5 playing rooms in hospitals of Rostov Region

The Charitable Foundation of the Detsky Mir Group of Companies, the largest retailer of children’s products in Russia, opened new playrooms within the framework of “Operation Toys” Charity Program.

Two game rooms appeared in Children’s City Hospital No. 1 in Rostov-on-Don, one in the Central District Hospital in Konstantinovsk and two in the Children’s City Hospital in Shakhty. The total amount of investments made by Detsky Mir Group of Companies into five playrooms exceeded RUB 1 mln.

The opening ceremony was attended by top officials of medical institutions, top managers of Detsky Mir Group of Companies and celebs of the Children’s CinemaMay Charitable Foundation: theater and film actor Sergey Gubanov, and singer Yana Leontyeva. In addition, there was a pleasant surprise waiting for young patients – an exciting interactive show with participation of professional animators.

“Our main goal is to create a comfortable atmosphere for children in hospitals and help speed up the recovery process. Detsky Mir not only donates toys and decorates the rooms, but also repairs and purchases furniture if necessary,” said Nadezhda Kiseleva, Head of the External and Internal Communications Department of Detsky Mir Group of Companies.

Waiting for young patients in their new playrooms were beautiful furniture, dolls, strollers, designer sets, cars, developing games, role-playing game sets and much more. Older children will enjoy sports games: table football, air hockey, and bowling. The collection of donated items also includes books on developing speaking, memory, thinking and attention skills, dictionaries on different topics, and musical instruments. Every child will find something to enjoy!

“Naturally, the environment plays a very important role in the recovery process of young patients. Playing games helps reduce emotional stress and helps children cope with negative psychological consequences of having to deal with painful medical manipulations. We have been cooperating with the Detsky Mir Charitable Foundation for several years and we observe how well young patients respond to treatment after they visit the playrooms in their clinics,” said Nadezhda Levitskaya, Ph.D., Head of the Health Department of Rostov-on-Don.

The Operation Toys project has been carried out in Rostov Region since 2015. In 2017, 2 playrooms were opened in the local Children’s City Hospital No. 2. In 2016, 9 playrooms appeared in the Regional Children’s Hospital in Rostov-on-Don, Romashka Children’s Sanatorium, and Children’s City Hospital in Taganrog. In 2015, Detsky Mir opened another playroom in the Regional Children’s Hospital.

Since the start of the project in 2013, the Detsky Mir Charitable Foundation has opened 294 playrooms in dozens of cities across the country. Playrooms appeared in hospitals of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Barnaul, Bryansk, Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Gorno-Altaisk, Grozny and many other cities.
