Detsky Mir Group presented the Sustainability Report for 2015-2016

Detsky Mir Group of Companies, the largest children’s goods trade operator in Russia and Kazakhstan, presented the second Sustainability Report for 2015-2016.

The document prepared on the basis of the latest version of the international standard for reporting on sustainable development (GRI G4) presents the main achievements of Detsky Mir Group in this area of activity.

As part of the development strategy of Detsky Mir Group of Companies in 2015-2016, the main goal was to increase the market share while maintaining financial and economic performance. The revenue of the Group of Companies in 2016 increased by 31.4% to 79.5 billion rubles. According to Ipsos Comcon, the Company’s share in the children’s goods market grew from 10% in 2014 to 17% in 2016,” said Vladimir Chirakhov, CEO of Detsky Mir Group, in a welcome speech published in the Report.

Detsky Mir Group of Companies reminds that in 2016 the Company developed and adopted the Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy aimed at increasing the volume of charitable activities and involving more employees in volunteer programs in the coming years. The group of companies allocated 287 million rubles for the implementation of charity projects in 2015-2016, this amount includes mainly raised money. The Report presents detailed information on the implemented charitable projects over the past two years.

An important task for the Company is to provide employees with the most comfortable working conditions, opportunities for training and career growth. In late 2016, the staff Detsky Mir Group of Companies consisted of more than 10 thousand people. For two years, the Company created about 5 thousand new jobs. At the same time, the introduction of new IT solutions, in particular the SAP platform, allowed automating business processes, reducing costs, increasing employee productivity.

The Report emphasizes the fact that Detsky Mir Group of Companies pays a lot of attention to the environment protection, to saving natural resources and the packaging recycling. The updated trading concept of the Detsky Mir chain of stores involves the use of modern energy-saving solutions that not only improve shopping spaces and make them more comfortable for visitors and staff, but also save energy significantly. The total amount of energy saved in 2016 was 4,377,148 kWh.

Since 2014, the Company has been collecting waste paper and packaging polyethylene film in the company’s warehouse. In 2016, in the distribution centers “Krekshino” and “Bekasovo”, about 500 tons of cardboard and 134.5 tons of film were collected, 300.6 tons of cardboard and 5.6 tons of film were recycled in the retail network.
