Detsky Mir Becomes the First Russian Company to Sign up to ZHDC
Moscow, Russia, 13 April 2021 – Detsky Mir Group (“Detsky Mir” or the “Company”, MOEX: DSKY), the largest children’s goods retailer in Russia and Kazakhstan, has become the first Russian contributor to ZHDC, an international initiative aimed at reducing the negative impact of the textile and footwear industry on the environment around the world.
Detsky Mir Group has signed up for the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals program, which aims to eliminate hazardous chemicals from the clothing industry’s production processes and ensure that wastewater is treated properly. The goal of the program is to implement ZDHC guidelines and tools across the supply chain.
Since six leading brands joined forces in 2011, the ZDHC has come a long way to now include 29 brands and 162 contributors from the chemical industry, textile manufacturing, and testing and accreditation laboratories.
As a program contributor, Detsky Mir stands to gain a range of benefits such as an access to the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL) and an opportunity to reduce business risk when manufacturing products according to RSL (Restricted Substances List for Finished Products).
“As the largest children’s goods retailer, the use of chemicals in children’s clothing is of a particular importance to us. We strive to ensure that all our partners completely eliminate the use of hazardous substances in their textile production. By working closely with our suppliers and partners, we will be able to guarantee that all production meets ZDHC standards,” said Maria Volodina, Commercial Director for Apparel and Footwear at Detsky Mir Group.
