Detsky Mir transfers 1.5 mln new year gifts to at-risk children

The Charitable Foundation of Detsky Mir Group of Companies, the largest retailer of children’s products in Russia, summarized the results of the charitable event.

The New Year stage of “Participate!” Charitable Program completed in the stores of Detsky Mir Chain. Any shopper could bring gifts and various items for at-risk children and leave them in special boxes near the cashier stations.

In two months of November and December more than 1 million people took part in the charity program in 200 cities across Russia. A total of 1.5 million items were collected, including clothes and footwear for children, as well as New Year gifts – toys, sweet platters, designer sets, puzzles and more.

“The event was quite popular among our shoppers: we collected twice as many things and gifts as in 2016, and forwarded them all to the orphanages. A total of 250,000 orphans, disabled children and children from large families representing 650 social institutions across the country received the gifts. We like to thank all the participants in this very kind program,” said Nadezhda Kiseleva, Head of the Directorate of External and Internal Communications of Detsky Mir Group of Companies.

You can also help the children by sending a short message “Участие” followed by the sum you wish to offer to a short number 7715. E.g., “Участие 500”. All the money we raise will go toward assisting disabled children.

Charity Instead of Gifts Program also assisted the at-risk children. For the fifth year in a row, Detsky Mir staff ask their partners not to give them New Year presents but instead donate some money to Detsky Mir Charity Foundation. In 2017 a total of 32 partners supported the Company’s call. The partners donated not only money but also toys, clothes, car seats, home appliances, hygiene products, stationary products, books, makeup, creativity sets, bed linen and dishes.
